Spring 2025
Dear Future Gymnast,
We would like to welcome you to high school gymnastics! The Cherry Creek School District is proud to be home to two of the most competitive and respected gymnastics programs in Colorado. Each program has a proud history within high school gymnastics, and continues to grow each year.
Our goal for both teams is to provide gymnasts with a place where they can grow physically and mentally throughout their high school careers. In addition, both programs strive to teach teamwork, sportsmanship, and life skills that the athletes will carry with them past graduation. At a district level, we are proud of the legacy we have established in Colorado Gymnastics and strive to continue building two thriving teams.
Minimum gymnastics requirements to participate for each team includes a series of back handsprings on floor, front handspring vault, kip on bars, and a cartwheel or back walkover on balance beam. Tryouts for each team occur in August, with additional information provided by each coach.
All new athletes wishing to participate in high school gymnastics in the CCSD must go through an application process. Students that attend Cherry Creek High School or Overland High School must compete for your school of attendance.
Athletes attending other schools besides CCHS or OHS must include in their application team of preference, if there is one, and detail why they would like to compete there.
All applications must be received by the 2nd Friday in May, and reviewed by a committee to determine placement of each athlete. Placement will be made based off team preference, team balance, the ability to maintain 2 viable/competitive district programs and transportation. Gymnasts will be notified by the end of the school year their team placement. Applications received after this date will be reviewed one week prior to the official start of season. To submit your application, please complete and email the application to the three addresses on the form.
You will be notified by the end of the current school year of your placement for fall. No gymnast will
be allowed to participate until they have completed the Cherry Creek School District Athletic
Registration Forms and paid their athletic fee. In-District students turn their forms and $90 athletic
fee into the high school they attend. After placement, out-of-district and home school athletes are
required to register at the District Admissions Office for athletics only. They will then turn their
forms and $135 athletic fee into the high school of the team they have been assigned to (Cherry Creek
or Overland). Please review the participation protocol and application process below for further
information.
We look forward to having you join one of our district programs, and are confident that with either team you will find a rewarding and competitive experience. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact one of us directly.
Sincerely,
Emily Schaefer Lisa Sparrow
